The journal focuses on contemporary issues related to criminal justice, criminology, and legal justice. JCJLR aims to promote a necessary forum for the continual dialogue of regional, national, and international issues related to criminal justice, criminology, law, and jurisprudence.Submission GuidelinesThe Co-Editors of the Journal welcomes original, unsolicited manuscripts that have not been published previously or that are under consideration in other publications. Articles will be accepted not only from academics and researchers, but from practitioners, policymakers, and those with relevant experience.All submissions should be emailed to darembert@pvamu.eduAuthors should submit one complete manuscript copy and one blinded copy (containing no information that might identify the author or authors). Each copy must be formatted in Microsoft Word. Each of the files should contain both the author contact’s last name, clear identification of which manuscript copy the file contains, and the date of submission. Therefore, the complete manuscript copy should be saved as “AUTHORSNAME/Complete Manuscript/Date of Submission” and the blinded manuscript should be saved as “AUTHORSNAME/blinded manuscript/Date of Submission.”The review process typically takes between 6 - 8 weeks. All manuscripts should be submitted in English, typed double-spaced, and should not be more than 30 pages, inclusive of the narrative, tables, references, appendices, and figures. The 30-page limit will be a subjective determination, and can/will be waived dependent upon individualized circumstances. Margins should be one inch on all sides. The manuscript should be accompanied by an abstract not to exceed 150 words, a title page, and a biographical information page (all provided in separate documents). The title page should include (a) the article title, all in capital letters, not exceeding 30 words (b) the names of all authors including their academic ranks or position titles, organizational or academic affiliations, and the full mailing address of all authors, telephone numbers, fax numbers, and email addresses for all authors.Further, do not include the authors’ names on any other portion of the manuscript. Non-legal manuscripts should follow the APA format (7 th Edition) for headings and subheadings, citations, notes, and references. Legal manuscript footnotes should be double-spaced and numbered serially. All legal footnotes and citations to authority within this journal must conform to Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation, 18 th Edition, distributed by the Harvard Law Review Association, Cambridge, Massachusetts.Clearing PermissionsAuthors are responsible for obtaining permission from copyright holders to reproduce in both print and online form those illustrations, tables, figures or lengthy quotations previously published elsewhere. Permission must be obtained before submission to the publisher. The acknowledgment should be added to the typescript and the source and copyright of photographs or figures credited in the accompanying captions.
CopyrightIt is a condition of publication that authors vest or license copyright in their articles, including abstracts, in the Journal of Criminal Justice and Law Review. This ensures full copyright protection and the ability to disseminate the article, and the journal, to the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats as appropriate. Authors may, of course, use the material elsewhere after publication providing that prior permission is obtained from Serial Publications. Authors are themselves responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyright material from other sources.
